About Image Converter

Almost every image job is a conversion. A designer hands you a TIFF, a client sends a BMP from a 2009 Windows machine, a CMS wants WebP and the printer insists on TIFF at 300 dpi. Rather than installing a heavyweight editor for each of these, one converter that moves between jpg, jpeg, png, webp, gif and bmp in any direction handles the lot.

This tool accepts all six formats at up to 10 MB per file and lets you pick the output format from a dropdown before you convert. Conversion happens on the server using mature encoders, so results are consistent regardless of your operating system or browser, and the output keeps a sensible file extension to match the format you chose.

A couple of format rules are worth knowing. JPG and BMP are opaque, so transparent areas in a PNG or WebP source get flattened onto a background colour when you target them. GIF is limited to 256 colours, so converting a detailed photo to GIF will show obvious posterisation. If you need transparency, choose PNG or WebP; if you need the smallest photo file, choose WebP or JPG.
